Bike Rides

We welcome any new riders to join us for up to 3 rides before joining us as a member.  Whether you are a beginner looking to gain more confidence on the roads, or a confident cyclist looking to ride with other like-minded women, you’ll love our range of bike rides.

Non-Member Bike Rides

All new riders and non-members are encouraged to join us on one of our Easy rides which fall under the British Cycling Breeze Programme. These are at the pace of the slowest rider. These rides are on Sunday mornings once a fortnight and are open to anyone to join. These rides will always be promoted on our Facebook page with a link to sign up to a website called Let’s Ride – www.letsride.co.uk.

WOW EASY

These rides offer an introduction to cycling in a group on quiet roads; perfect if you are new to cycling or returning to the sport

  • Up to 15 miles
  • At the pace of the slowest rider
  • Flat or undulating route
  • On quiet roads

  • Suitable for all types of bikes

If you have comfortably completed up to 3 of our Easy rides and feel you are ready to progress then you will need to join us as a WOW member.  This will then enable you to progress onto one of our Steady, Intermediate, Advanced or Summer Training Rides.

Member Club Bike Rides

So you’ve joined us for up to 3 Easy open non-member rides and would now like to progress onto a further or faster ride and have now joined us as a Club Member. Our Club Rides are generally organised for Saturday or Sunday mornings to allow us time to explore the quiet country lanes around the beautiful countryside of Worcestershire! Every ride allows for an essential coffee and cake stop so we can get to know each other.  We also organise club training rides on a Wednesday evening during the summer months.

All of our club rides are promoted on our Facebook Page with a link to the Let’s Ride website so that you can sign up.  Please note you MUST be a member of WOW to join these and also have joined the Women on Wheels [MEMBERS] group on the Let’s Ride website in order to sign up.

We offer 3 types of club rides.  Please click on the different ride types below for an outline of what to expect, as well as what will be expected of you as a rider.  This is to ensure that everyone who joins us is on an appropriate ride to maximize enjoyment for everyone:

WOW STEADY

Can you ride comfortably at the pace of one of our Easy Rides? If YES, then you may want to consider a Steady Ride;

  • Up to 20 miles

  • AVERAGE pace of 10-12mph

  • Flat or undulating route

  • On quiet roads with the occasional busy one

  • Suitable for all types of bikes

If you have already joined us for a Steady Ride and feel ready to advance onto the next level then why not read about our slightly quicker Intermediate Rides and see if you are ready to take your next step.

WOW INTERMEDIATE

To ensure the safety of all riders please ensure you possess all of these essential skills BEFORE you move to this level of ride:

  • Ride comfortably in a group (follow a wheel and ride next to someone)

  • Communicate effectively within a group

  • Drink from your water bottle whilst riding

If you struggle with any of these essential skills then please persevere with our Steady Rides before progressing any further, or why not consider attending our coaching sessions when they are available. If however, you are confident with all of these essential skills AND have already accompanied us on either an Easy Ride or Steady Ride then you come along and try one of our Intermediate rides;

  • up to 30 miles

  • 12-13mph AVERAGE PACE

  • How long we expect to be out for (in time including stops)
  • Details of the meeting time and place.
  • ALL RIDERS are EXPECTED to read the blurb with the published ride.

Audaxes and Sportives

Audaxes and Sportives are becoming increasingly popular with our riders and so we try to participate as a group in such events so that we can support each other through the challenge and make it an even more enjoyable and achievable experience. Why not start riding with us and before long you could catch the bug and what you once considered unimaginable could transform into reality :-). Any upcoming Audaxes or Sportives will be posted on our Facebook Page but click here to see a list of local ones that prove popular.
